Scope of Work

Orway’s scope of work was comminution circuit selection and design.  After installation Orway assisted with project ramp and then long term optimisation projects including comminution surveys, Remote Grinding Support (RGS) and online Remote Optimisation Consulting and Coaching (MillROC). 

Flowsheet

The comminution flowsheet consisted of primary crushing (3x TK KB63-89), partial secondary crushing (2x Metso MP2500), SAG milling (2x FLS 12.19m Ø x 7.151m EGL, 28MW each) and ball milling (2x FLS 8.53m Ø x 13.36m EGL, 22MW each) with common pebble crushing (Metso MP1250).

Notable Features

The circuit was designed from limited drill-core information and selected within the constraints of the largest available crushers, SAG and ball mills at the time.  The power split had to be manipulated by including partial secondary crushing, which is not typically included in a new design.

Ongoing remote support of the operation was initially done via Orway’s RGS where the client shared operating data on a monthly basis.  More recently, the online MillROC platform was implemented to provide remote support based on real-time information.

Outcome

The operation continues to perform well at above design for a number of years.
